What is green spill, and why does it matter?

A green backdrop bounces green light back onto whatever is in front of it. That shows up as a green rim along hair and edges, a green tint in shadows, and green reflections on anything glossy or pale. Keying the backdrop away does nothing about it - the spill is on the subject, not behind it - which is why cutouts from free chroma keyers so often look wrong against a new background even when the outline is clean. Removing that cast, and putting the subject’s real colours back, is the part this tool charges for.

What size will the finished image be?

Choose up to 2K for three credits per image or up to 4K for five. The limit applies to the longer edge and keeps the shape of what you uploaded: a large camera photo is reduced to about 2,048 or 4,096 pixels, while a smaller image comes back at its own size rather than being enlarged. The selected tier fixes the price for every successful image in the batch, even when a smaller source does not need the full bucket.

Is the result my photo, or a new image?

It is a new image. The model re-renders your subject rather than cutting a matte out of your original pixels, and that is precisely what makes the de-spill possible - repainting a green-tinted edge is not something a mask can do. Because the image is generated, the model can occasionally alter, misinterpret, or invent small details. This is more noticeable with things like text, logos, fine patterns, or complex edges. Always check the result before publishing, and keep in mind that you may need to retry a few times to get the details right.

Do the results carry an AI watermark?

They may. Some AI models and providers embed invisible watermarks or other provenance signals in generated images. These are typically not visible and do not affect how the image looks or prints, but compatible detection tools may be able to identify them. Whether a watermark is present depends on the model used to process the image.

What if my subject has green in it?

That is the hard case for every green-screen tool, and this one handles it better than a colour-threshold keyer because it recognises the subject rather than matching a hue - a green jacket is part of the person, not part of the backdrop. It is still the situation most likely to disappoint, so if you are shooting for this, keep green out of the wardrobe and the product where you can, and keep the subject well away from the backdrop so less light bounces.

What happens to my photos?

Your images are uploaded to our storage, processed on our servers, and handed to the model by URL. The files are deleted four hours after you download them, or within two days if you do not. We do not use your images to train anything, and they are not shared with anyone beyond the processing described here.

Why does this cost credits when your other image tools are free?

Accepted Answer

The free tools here run entirely inside your browser, so they cost us nothing to give away. This one sends every image to an AI model that charges us per image, and the transparent option runs two. Credits are pay-as-you-go with no subscription, and you are only charged for images that come back - if one fails, it is not billed.

How many images can I do at once?

Accepted Answer

Two per batch, at up to 25 MB each, in JPG, PNG, or WebP. One batch is one job and one quality tier: you can close the tab while it runs and come back to it. A batch of more than one arrives as a ZIP when it is done; a single image comes back as the image itself.
